ID cards printed on the FARGO hdp 5000 printers do more than protect your organization they reflect your pride. They feature the highest print quality available. By printing a reverse image on the underside of HDP film and then fusing it to the card surface, the hdp 5000 prints with the look of a sharp glossy photo.
High-Definition Printing:
The HDP5000 provides superior print quality with a high degree of security. By printing to a clear film before transferring the image directly to the card, the printer eliminates unwanted white borders for vivid, edge-to-edge ID cards. It also works well for printing on proximity and smart cards, since its patented HDP Film print method fuses to the surface of these cards, conforming to the ridges and indentations caused by their embedded technology.
HDP5000’s modular design makes it easy to expand or change the system in line with your organization’s needs, with add-on options for dual-sided printing, encoding options, and lamination. Plus, the included Fargo Workbench utility enables simple diagnostics and helps you take advantage of new features and performance upgrades for the printer. The result is an ID card printing solution that’s a great fit for colleges, loyalty and membership programs, corporations, hospitals, government agencies, and more. The HDP5000 can even apply a holographic overlay for added card durability and security.
Retransfer Printing Technology:
Using retransfer printing technology, the Fargo HDP5000 is able to produce rich and vibrant imagery that covers the entire card surface. This is especially important when printing proximity or smart cards that contain electronically encoded information as it helps prevent cloning. It also helps to ensure that the cards are durable and easy to handle.
By printing a reverse image on the underside of HDP film and then fusing it to the card surface, the printer produces an ID card with an image quality that looks more like a sharp glossy photo than an ordinary plastic ID card. The retransfer technology also works well when printing complex designs that contain block colors.
The HDP5000 is easy to operate and maintain thanks to its cartridge-based printing system, which helps eliminate torn and wasted materials. The printhead is affixed to the ribbon through a snap-in mechanism and cleaning rollers are easily replaced. It is also field-upgradeable with several encoding options, including magnetic stripe and smart card encoders.
Dual-Sided Lamination:
The HDP5000 prints vivid ID cards with superior image quality by printing a reverse image on the underside of the HDP film, then fusing it to the card’s surface. Cards produced with high-definition printing are more durable and can print up to, and over, the edge of smart chip contacts – making them ideal for proximity and contactless smart cards.
This enhanced printer is easy to operate and maintain. Ribbons, cards, and lamination are all cartridge-based – reducing downtime and eliminating the need to store multiple different supplies. The cleaning process is also simple, with each ribbon including a new cleaning roller. The SmartScreen LCD control panel provides helpful prompts and status messages.
The 89660-SD is shipped with everything you need to start printing ID cards – a full-color, 500-print-count YMCKK ribbon, HDP transfer film, and 500 PVC blank ID cards. Plus, it includes a Credential Cam webcam that’s optimized for capturing photo ID pictures and Asure ID Solo card design software. All are backed by an industry-leading three-year warranty with one year of free printer loaner support.
Easy Installation:
In addition to printing, the HDP5000 has an encoding module that allows you to add barcodes to your ID cards. This is a great option for adding membership or rewards programs that require more than just a name and photo. Encoding is easy and doesn’t require any special upgraded printer modules or specialized cardstock.
The HDP5000 includes several security features that help prevent card cloning and duplication. A holographic overlay adds another layer of security that makes it easier to spot a fake card. Plus, a unique lock and key helps protect the printer’s printhead.
Tech Tip:
Periodically, it is necessary to update both the printer drivers and firmware. These updates are available in the Fargo Workbench Printer Utility. Once the software is installed, choose ‘drivers’ or ‘firmware’ to download and apply updates. During the update, the printer will need to be disconnected from your computer. Once the updates are complete, the printer will automatically reboot.
