The CanoScan LiDE 220 is a smart, compact flatbed that can scan reflective documents and photos at an impressive 4,800-dpi resolution. We found that it performed well enough to be our Editors’ Choice moderately priced flatbed for photographic prints.
Fast Scanning Speed:
Like its predecessor, the CanoScan LiDE 220 has a compact footprint and a sleek look that reduces desktop clutter. It’s also one of the fastest flatbed scanners we’ve tested, capturing an A4 document at 300 dpi in 15 seconds and a 6×4 photo in just 21. It’s a little slower at higher resolutions and lower bit-depths, but still faster than most comparable models and quicker than any consumer-grade photo printer we’ve used.
The scanner has a simple control panel that lets you use physical buttons and an onscreen menu, or a convenient software bundle called My Image Garden. You can scan to a variety of file formats and use several one-touch scanning shortcuts.
The lid lifts about an inch, making it easy to scan thick documents such as personal notebooks or thick textbooks. You can even scan directly to Dropbox and Evernote for a super-convenient way to send your files online. It can also automatically stitch together multiple scanned pages into a single PDF or JPEG file. It also has a built-in anti-glare coating that helps prevent unwanted reflections.
High-Resolution Scanning:
Featuring an optical resolution of up to 4800 x 4800 dots per inch (dpi), the Canon CanoScan LiDE 220 scanner delivers impressive scanning quality for both documents and photographs. This high-resolution capability can help create sharp and clear scans with fine details, making it ideal for professional use.
This model also offers a variety of advanced features for improving the look and quality of scanned images. For example, it can automatically adjust image colors and enhance photos by removing dust and scratches. It can even convert printed text into editable text, which can be a valuable tool for business or home office use.
The software bundled with the CanoScan LiDE 220 scanner is comprehensive and easy to use. It includes a range of creative options for editing and enhancing scanned documents and photos, as well as a variety of tools for converting text into editable data. It can also correct gutter shadows that appear between pages when you scan open booklets. This feature can make the process of scanning easier and more efficient. It also helps to reduce the file size of scanned files for convenient storage and transfer.
One-Touch Scanning:
With a single touch, you can automatically scan photos or documents in high resolution and save them to your PC. The scanner’s auto-scan function provides optimal settings for your files, and you can also customize your scan preferences in the software.
The Canon CanoScan LiDE 220 offers impressive speed and resolution, making it a distinguished option for both personal and professional scanning needs. Its sleek design and advanced features position it as a leader in its class, giving it a distinct advantage over other comparable options.

Easy to Use:
With a slick design that resembles machined alloy, the CanoScan LiDE 220 is a smartly built, budget-friendly flatbed scanner.
